OLUNGA CLINCHES TENTH VICTORY FOR KENYA’S STARS

Kenya’s Harambee Stars cap their winning streak with a 2-1 win over Democratic Republic of Congo (DCR) yesterday in an international friendly match at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Striker, Michael Olunga struck a brace in the fifth and 70th minute giving the Stars a recorded 10 wins.

The 23-year-old put DRC ahead in the sixth before former Chelsea FC player Gael Kakuta pulled the visitors level in the 60th minutes

Kenya responded ten minutes later as Olunga struck his second decisive goal. A quick interplay between South-African based Brian Mandela and Jesse Were led to a final pass that released to Olunga.

Olunga, who also scored the 1-1 draw against Uganda, had four tries but DRC goal keeper Joel Kiassumbua skilfully saved two.

The team is set to play Malawi next week with only local-based players taking part in an effort to adequately prepare for the upcoming Chan 2018 tournament.

This will be Kenya’s third friendly after the draw against Uganda and the historic win against DRC.
